Nothing you type here is saved online. This page sends nothing anywhere: it has no account, no server behind it and makes no network requests at all.

Your box

What are you building

This decides more than anything else on the page. If you already run a console, you install nothing by hand: your existing one builds this box for you.
A box at a hosting provider, or a kit behind your own router. This changes which steps you need.
A box with a screen that powers on straight into the console.

Names

For people. Anything you like.
The name devices will connect to. It becomes the server's certificate.
The box's own hostname. Filled in from the name above; change it if you want something different.
The account you create during the Ubuntu install. Vantage installs as this user.

Addresses

Where you log in to the router. Move it off the vendor default before you start.
The address you will reserve for it on the router. The address your provider gave you.
From the router's client list once the box has been plugged in and powered on. Take the wired entry, not wifi.
It makes no difference to whether the box works, or to enrolling devices by QR. It decides whether browsers and handsets warn the first time they connect, and how much you publish about this box.

Either Yes has to be arranged before the build, because a kit behind a router cannot be reached by the certificate authority. No needs nothing doing.
Where the certificate gets issued. Not the box you are building, and not this laptop unless the token lives here. Give it as user@address.
For a kit, this is its VPN address, which does not exist until step 5. Leave blank for now. Usually the same as the server's address above.

Private network

Vantage joins the box to whichever you choose. It does not run the network, so you bring the account or the server.
